Alan Forder - Chair of Governors

Name: Alan Forder
Category of Governor: Local Authority
Appointed by: Governing Body
Term of Office: 16th November 2016 – 15th November 2020

Biography: I volunteered as a Governor and was appointed by the Governing Body as the LA Governor in November 2016. Having recently taken early retirement I was looking for a role where I could use the experience and knowledge I have gained through my working life for the benefit of others.  I have a raft of experience in finance, audit, project management and board level leadership across a wide range of multinational companies. As well as finance and audit qualifications, I have a Masters degree in Business Administration. I hope that this wide range of skills and experience will help me to make a positive contribution to the life of the school and the education and growth of the pupils.

Although my current knowledge of the Education world is relatively limited, I look forward to learning more about this and how I can effectively contribute.  My wife and I, together with our now grown up children, have lived in Woodmansterne for over 30 years and I look forward to helping the community, especially the children, grow, learn and enjoy this community as much as we have.

Clare Bishop - Vice Chair

Name: Clare Bishop
Category of Governor: Co-Opted Governor
Appointed by: Governing Body
Term of Office: 21st October 2019 – 20th October 2023

Biography: I was very excited to be elected to the governing body in October 2015 shortly after my oldest daughter joined the reception class.

I have a passion for education having worked previously in two London universities as a research scientist and undertaking teaching responsibilities. I completed my PhD in theoretical Chemistry at University College London in 2009 where I also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. I then took up a position at Imperial College London performing research in the area of nuclear materials for the European F-BRIDGE project and acting as course organiser and lecturer for a Masters computer modelling module. I hope to use my experience of working in the higher education sector to assist in the development of Woodmansterne Primary School.

Since having my two children I have worked as a private tutor of mathematics and science and have enjoyed meeting many wonderful young people in the local community and helping them with their studies.

I am looking forward to working with the staff and other governors to develop the school and ensure that all pupils receive an excellent and inspiring education in a happy and safe environment.

Biography: I am very excited to serve on the Governing Body of Woodmansterne Primary School. As a parent of school aged children aged 8 and 12, I have always wanted to contribute in some way to something that is so fundamental to our lives. So, when the opportunity to volunteer at the school came by, I was pleased to put my name forward for it. I am a CyberSecurity consultant by profession and am currently a Director at KPMG LLP. Prior to this role, I have spent over 20 years in the IT and Security sectors in various roles spanning business development, consulting and project management. In between, I have enjoyed varying stints as an entrepreneur, a Lego parent and an overambitious golfer.

Victoria O'Keeffe

Name: Victoria O'Keeffe

Category of Governor: Community Governor

Appointed by: Governing Body

Term of Office: 28th November 2018 - 27th November 2022

Biography: I am very excited to have joined the governing body at Woodmansterne, having been elected in November 2018.  My professional background is in education and I worked for twelve years as a secondary school French teacher and a member of school middle and senior leadership teams.  Following the birth of my eldest daughter I joined the Department for Education, leading on the delivery of policy relating to school improvement and teacher recruitment and retention in the South London area.  While I love my role as a civil servant I do miss the dynamism and noise of life in a school and am very much looking forward to getting to know the pupils, staff and parents at Woodmansterne. I have a passion for education and the opportunities it offers young people. I am a firm believer in seeing children in the round and hope to use my skills and experience as a teacher and parent to help ensure all pupils reach their potential in a happy, nurturing and aspirational environment.
