Biography: I was appointed by the Governing Body in April 2015 as a Community Governor, bringing governance experience from other Surrey Schools.  I Have a strong network of governor contacts in Surrey who share best practice to support Surrey schools.  I am also an Associate Trainer for Babcock 4S occasionally delivering governor training. Previously, I have served as a governor, and Chair of Governors, at Whyteleafe Primary School and as a governor, and Vice Chair of Governors, at Marden Lodge Primary School. My employment experience is in managing software, IT services and business services organisations. I am currently managing director of a consultancy developing and delivering data driven marketing solutions and consultancy to arts and entertainment clients.

My wife is training to be a teacher at Whyteleafe School and I have two daughters who attend Warlingham School.

Biography: Oluyori (Yori) was recruited through SGOSS and appointed by the Governing Body as a Community Governor in July 2015. He has always been interested in education and chose to become Governor so that he can provide a hands on impact in children’s education. He is a Dental Surgeon and holds a Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer position at the Centre for Clinical Diagnostic and Oral Sciences, Institute of Dentistry, Barts & The London School of Medicine & Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. He aims to use his wealth of experience in Higher Education to make a positive contribution to the school and every child’s education.

 

Name: Clare Bishop

Biography: I was very excited to be elected to the governing body in October 2015 shortly after my oldest daughter joined the reception class. I have a passion for education having worked previously in two London universities as a research scientist and undertaking teaching responsibilities. I completed my PhD in theoretical Chemistry at University College London in 2009 where I also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. I then took up a position at Imperial College London performing research in the area of nuclear materials for the European F-BRIDGE project and acting as course organiser and lecturer for a Masters computer modelling module. I hope to use my experience of working in the higher education sector to assist in the development of Woodmansterne Primary School.

Since having my two children I have worked as a private tutor of mathematics and science and have enjoyed meeting many wonderful young people in the local community and helping them with their studies.

My responsibilities for the governing body are to monitor SEND and priority 1 of the SDP. I am looking forward to working with the staff and other governors to develop the school and ensure that all pupils receive an excellent and inspiring education in a happy and safe environment.

 

Name: Steve Williams

Biography: I have been a parent governor at Woodmansterne Primary for the past 6 years however my involvement in the school goes back just over 12 years when my eldest daughter first started in Reception - by the time my youngest daughter finishes at Woodmansterne I will have been there for 17 years straight!

In my working life I come from a finance industry background having previously worked for a couple of UK corporate banks supporting their local community.  I now run my own commercial finance brokerage business working with SME businesses and property investors throughout the UK to deliver their finance requirements and this experience allows me to bring an understanding of budgeting, finance and analytical skills to the governing body.

I am a passionate advocate of the school and aside from my involvement in the governing body have always had an active role in supporting the PTA in their fund raising endeavours (mainly operating the BBQ!) and various other events at school including school discos, football tournaments and the Dads' race at Sports Day!

 

 

Name: Felicity Carter

Biography: I am a working Mum with two children, both of whom attend Woodmansterne Primary.  I am looking forward to being able to use my knowledge of schools and the education system to work with the Governors and staff at Woodmansterne to ensure our children are given the best possible experience of education.

I currently work four days per week as a GCSE and A Level Business Studies and Economics teacher at a secondary school in Crawley.  Prior to having my children, I was a full time Head of Business Studies, managing two other members of staff, along with a role in developing the 6th form.  I have a good understanding of the education system and school policy.

I enjoy getting involved with the school community; I am part of the PTA and parent School Council and believe that parent voice and involvement is key to the success of our school.

 

 

Name: Karen Reddington

Biography: I have worked at Woodmansterne Primary School since January 2005 as  a Teaching Assistant. I gained Higher Level Teaching Assistant status in 2007 and cover classes on a regular basis. I was appointed to the Governing Body as a Support Staff Governor in September 2013. My current Governor responsibilities are Link Governor, Health and Safety Governor and Governor responsible for monitoring raising the achievement of all pupils as outlined in the School Development Plan.

My previous working experience has been in the Banking Sector, where I worked in a variety of roles and locations in a career that spanned 19 years.  I started working in the Branch Network and Head Office of Barclays Bank PLC in Liverpool before moving to London where I then worked at  Barclays Training Centre, Head Office - UK Finance and Planning Department and finally Head Office - Barclays Private Banking.

 

Name: Alan Forder

Biography: I volunteered as a governor and was appointed by the Governing Body as the LA Governor in November 2016. Having recently taken early retirement I was looking for a role where I could use the experience and knowledge I have gained through my working life for the benefit of others.  I have a raft of experience in finance, audit, project management and board level leadership across a wide range of multinational companies. As well as finance and audit qualifications, I have a Masters degree in Business Administration. I hope that this wide range of skills and experience will help me to make a positive contribution to the life of the school and the education and growth of the pupils.

Although my current knowledge of the Education world is relatively limited, I look forward to learning more about this and how I can effectively contribute.  My wife and I, together with our now grown up children, have lived in Woodmansterne for over 30 years and I look forward to helping the community, especially the children, grow, learn and enjoy this community as much as we have.

 

 

Name: Mark Robins

Biography: I am looking forward to supporting Woodmansterne School in the capacity of Parent Governor over the coming years. I have a son who has recently joined reception at Woodmansterne and another who attends the preschool on site. I am taking on my first role within an official education capacity, albeit I have sports coaching qualifications and have been involved in coaching children over the years. I do have a strong connection with education as my brother is the Head of Maths at Warlingham Secondary School and I can count on him for additional support/ guidance when required.

In terms of my commercial background, I have been running recruitment businesses in the city over past 16 years holding board level positions for the last ten of those. This experience includes working for a FTSE listed company in London/ New York (Michael Page); selling a business into private equity and most recently working through the successful transformation/ turnaround of a business that specialises in the creative/ marketing industry. I am currently in the process of launching a well funded start up recruitment business that specialises in the digital space. My key skills include: project management, people management, sales & marketing, change management and of course recruitment of talent.

I am looking forward to using my experience and background to bring some new ideas to the group and to soak up the nuances involved within the education sector.
