Our Ethos and Values

Growing Learners for Life

At Woodmansterne we aim to:

  • Discover, develop and celebrate the potential in every child
  • Prepare children for the future through exciting learning and excellence in teaching
  • Enable children to learn confidently in a safe, happy and healthy environment
  • Build partnerships with families and the community

School Council

The School Council is a group of 20 pupils from Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Two pupils have been chosen by the children from each of the classes in these year groups. They meet regularly to discuss items of their choice and issues brought to them by other children in their classes. At the meetings, they discuss eco and school issues and projects.

The School Council Mission Statement is:

We, at Woodmansterne, have a School Council to bring all ideas to the Head Teacher so we can make the school a better place.

Playground Rules

  • We will respect adults and other children at all times.
  • We will speak kindly to each another.
  • We will play together and care for one another.
  • We will agree on the game rules and play by them.
  • We will respect, share and look after the play equipment.

Eco-Code

  • We will recycle waste in the correct bins where possible.
  • We will switch off lights when not needed.
  • We will turn off taps after use.
  • We will only use rainwater to water gardens.
  • We will only use new paper if necessary.

The School Council has recently designed a child-friendly anti-bullying leaflets for KS1 and KS2 children.
